WHO ARE YOU?

This step is foundational. Clarity here shapes everything that follows. Let’s work through it together.

When expressing your core identity clearly, people seek specific information in a specific order. Think of this as stamping out question marks. Something about you or your brand initially grabs attention. From there, you must clearly and compellingly answer:

Who you are, what you do, how you do it, and why it matters.

Answering these fully helps people feel satisfied and interested enough to explore further. Partial or vague answers can leave them unsatisfied, even if your offer aligns perfectly with their needs. Invest in clarity here.

The key is context. Clearly establish whether you're speaking as an individual or as a collective business, always through the lens of your offering.

For example:

Individual: You are Tom Jones, a lawyer, musician, or designer.

Collective: You are Apple or Trader Joe’s, offering products or services.

Your identity might also be very personal, like refining your leadership abilities. Regardless, always see it through the lens of your offer—the way your innate value engages with the world.

Remember, this process reveals your genuine, inherent value, crystallizes it into a clear identity, and communicates it compellingly.

If you need clarity, read this again slowly. Take your time.

3-2 Identity Clarity - What I do and why it matters

Answer each prompt in one plain sentence. Make sure each answer is specific and distinct. Example: You should not be explaining what makes you unique or how you do it under who you are.

Clearly state your substantial nature, who is behind it, and its presence.
