Clearing distortion to make space for coherence
Hi Team!,
I hope you’ve had a reflective week, especially around how your message is landing. Are others actually feeling what you’re trying to express—and are they moved to respond?
We’ve got a big session today, but it’s a huge step in the process. So let’s sharpen our pencils. It’s about to get real.
Key Takeaways from This Week's Session
How to spot what’s no longer true—and why clearing it creates space for clarity
The 5 essential questions that guide any identity into deeper coherence
What it really means to “listen” for truth—and how to do it
How to turn emotional insight into actionable brand direction
Why your most honest expression might feel scary—and why that’s the point

Before we move on, let’s freshen up on some core terminology to make sure we’re all on the same page:
Entity refers to a distinct being—whether that’s an individual, a group, a business, or even someone simply trying to uncover their personal truth. Authentic Alchemy is a framework for becoming—and it applies to any entity seeking deeper alignment and fuller expression.
Identity is the set of distinguishing characteristics or personality traits of an entity. It reflects both a person’s internal alignment with their own conscience and the gut feeling others have about them. In the context of this work, identity is interchangeable with brand, and you may hear me use either term depending on the situation.
Truth is the foundation of Authentic Alchemy. If it isn’t honest, it won’t resonate. Dishonesty creates distortion and delays what’s inevitable. In truth, there’s no performance—no mask to uphold.
Empathy is the recognition that any entity choosing to express itself is in a relationship—and is curious and active in a process of reflection.
Resonance is what happens when truth and empathy meet. It lowers resistance and creates an environment that fosters connection.
With lowered resistance, other entities naturally gravitate toward you—because you embody something they are seeking—a return to coherence.
WHAT’S COHERENCE?
Without trust, nobody will want to play with you. And trust emerges from coherence—a holistic, consistent, state of being.
After 30 years of brand development, and applying brand science across every philosophical, religious, and spiritual system I could get my hands on, coherence is one of the most prominent common threads I’ve found.
This is the process we're in. I call it Authentic Alchemy because it's an honest transmutation.
We use honesty to navigate out of the distortion and disconnection we can sense, but often struggle to explain. While brand systems give us structure, this work goes beyond brands—it applies to any entity seeking to align and express with integrity and greater ease. So yes, our businesses can benefit—but so can we.

STEP 4: THE RECKONING
I’ll be speaking to this step through the lens of a brand practitioner—someone facilitating the process for another. If you’re working on your own identity, just translate it into self-dialogue.
Last week, we covered THE AUDIT—the process of evaluating where a brand is at. If you’re self-branding, I hope it sparked breakthroughs about your current state—or helped you consider the importance of clarity and consistency if you're just beginning.
Now we arrive at a pivotal point in the journey: THE RECKONING.
This is where what no longer serves is brought to light. Misalignments are cleared to make space for clarity.
As a practitioner, this is one of the most critical steps. Your job is to ask probing questions, and then—listen and observe. Ideally, this is a face-to-face conversation (or at least a video call), where presence and body language add layers to what’s being said. The person must be prepped ahead of time—make sure they understand what the conversation is, what kind of questions will be asked, and the weight this moment carries.
The questions cover five essential areas:
Clarifying Purpose and Intent: uncovering what’s truly being created and why.
Surfacing Misalignments: identifying what feels off, outdated, or untrue.
Identity and Story: revealing the narratives and beliefs that shape perception.
Emotional Rooting: digging into the emotional drivers beneath the surface.
Liberation and Redefinition: clarifying what must be let go of—and what’s ready to emerge.
You’ll find the full list of questions at the end of this email.
LET’S GET ESOTERIC
Every entity—whether a person, brand, or idea—is ultimately seeking two things: outward expression and inner return. It wants to take something true from within, share it with the world, and feel something come back—a signal, a reflection—that what it offered was seen, felt, and ultimately, affirmed.
Simple words. But you can feel the weight of them.
The challenge is, most people don’t have clear guidance on what that “something inside” actually is—or whether it’s even real. And even worse, many have been taught to believe it can be fabricated. If someone presents themselves a certain way and appears to receive all the affirmation we long for, the temptation arises: “Maybe I just need to be more like them.”
And this is the trap.

As a practitioner, your role here is to spot the signals—through their words, expressions, and emotional cues—that help you understand where they truly are. Is there a firm foundation of self-identity? Do they recognize their innate value—or are they chasing an illusion of value constructed for approval?
If they’re chasing a fantasy, your job is harder—but not impossible. If you’ve been transparent about your process, they likely came to you knowing help was needed. That’s good. It means they’re open. But you may have to go back much further—perhaps all the way to the moment they first abandoned their real path. That’s your starting point.
For those who already have a faint sense of their value, the work becomes clarifying: Can they articulate it? Can they feel it, but not express it? Have they veered too far from it in pursuit of external rewards?
This step—THE RECKONING—is one of the most demanding but transformative parts of the process. And to truly navigate it, I have a tool for you that is kind of magical:
DEPTH LISTENING
This is not typical active listening. This is conscious, emptied listening—based on the belief that truth reveals itself when space is created for it.
Here’s how it works: You begin by removing yourself from the moment. That means letting go of who you think you are—your preferences, your judgments, your emotional reactions. Emptying your mind. It creates a lot of space and what remains is a quiet, clear, present awareness. A body. A breath. A field of attention.
When the noise of “you” steps aside, and the mental chatter fades into the background, something incredible happens: The dialog reveals its own truth. You ask the questions. You observe. You wait. And suddenly, something sharp surfaces—unexpected, charged, real. A key has been handed to you. Pay attention. That’s the signal.
Learn to attune to this moment, and you’ll receive exactly what you need.
Yes, this may sound esoteric—but over years of doing this, I’ve never stopped being amazed at how much is communicated unconsciously when you know how to listen this way.

RESOLUTION
I strongly recommend recording these sessions and using transcription tools so you can review them with patience and full presence. Let them breathe. Sit with the material. Take notes. Allow insights to surface slowly.
By this point—between THE AUDIT and THE RECKONING—you should begin sensing the contours of the true identity wanting to emerge. An honest form starts to emerge from behind the noise.
The goal here is to take the responses—whether from a client or yourself—and distill them into a findings document, turning each of the five question categories into clear, grounded statements. If you’re self-branding, you can absolutely do this solo. You may just want to share your draft with a trusted peer or colleague for honest feedback. Once complete, this document becomes a foundation for what comes next. It should be reviewed together—and when there’s agreement, it becomes a mutual commitment to the direction and identity being claimed.
The questions from:
Clarifying Purpose and Intent
Becomes a Core Intent Statement
This captures what the entity is truly here to create—both in tangible form and emotional impact.Surfacing Misalignments
Becomes an Alignment Correction Statement
This outlines what feels inauthentic, outdated, or misaligned, and what needs to change or be let go.Identity and Story
Becomes a Narrative Reframe Statement
This redefines the core story or belief the entity holds about itself, shedding false identities and reclaiming truth.Emotional Rooting
Becomes a Driving Emotion Statement
This names the deeper emotional need or wound behind the expression and why the work really matters.Liberation and Redefinition
Becomes a Reclamation Statement
This declares what the entity is choosing to leave behind—and what it’s ready to stand for moving forward.
WEEKLY EXERCISE
We’re always being invited to step into our highest expression.
And if that vision feels bold, unfamiliar—or even a little terrifying—it’s usually a sign you’re close to something real. The path forward might not be comfortable, but it’s honest. And every uncomfortable step is part of revealing who you truly are.
This week’s exercise is to journal loosely on the questions at the end of the email—or simply sit with them. Let whatever rises, rise.
AROUND THE STUDIO

WEBSITE EXPANSION
The new site has been a great success, and I’ve received a lot of positive feedback on it—but we’re taking things even further. In addition to online bookings and a fully virtual model, we’re now expanding Authentic Alchemy to support individuals and leaders on a path of self-discovery.
It’s no longer just about brands—it’s a framework of Becoming, for anyone ready to step into deeper alignment. We’ll be adding consulting packages to our instant booking options soon, and will share an announcement when it’s live.

LIVE INTERVIEW
As part of their new album Lifeforce, dropping June 27th, 3rd Force will be interviewing me about the Authentic Alchemy branding process we used to develop the brand for the new album.
